Website: http://www.atomqld.org/Summary:
Television, film and digital technologies are powerful vehicles that provide constant messages about culture, community values and identity. This workshop is an introduction to how we can use digital media and technologies for positive development and discernment about what, who, how and why these messages are conceived and delivered.
This workshop will explore how multiliterate approaches to learning can encourage students to be critical and discerning consumers and creators of the media and media technologies. This workshop will showcase resources developed by the Australian Children’s Television Foundation that are aligned with Australian Curriculum. Given particular attention will be the MY:24 app. This free digital storytelling tool supports young Australians to tell their own ‘MY:24’ - 24 hours that had a transformational impact on their life. Using the inspiration of social media storytelling, the app places the user at the front and centre of a short recount (2-3 minute film) of their own life changing event, using a series of templates ad the in-built capabilities of their iOS mobile device.
