Sound design: The power to simulate world building
Sound Designer Serge Lacroix says, “Sound is 60 percent of the screen experience.” Why is sound so important in television and film? How does sound help to bring audiences into a screen world? What’s the workflow professionals undergo to create, capture and edit sound into a production?
In this virtual workshop, students discover the importance of sound design and how it is used to create and build worlds in television. Students hear directly from Australian creative professionals working in sound to discover the behind-the-scenes process of planning, capturing and editing a soundscape.
We will look closely at the art of capturing foley sound in a range of Australian television shows and explore an example from the award-winning television program, Hardball with Sound Designers Serge Lacroix and Liam Whiting from Post Op Group. Join us to learn how sound is used to build a screen world.
Teachers also receive resources post virtual workshops to continue exploring sound design in the classroom.
This virtual workshop is co-developed and co-presented by the ACTF and ACMI and celebrates the 40th anniversary of the ACTF.
