Resources for creating a positive classroom culture

Teachers, build teamwork and leadership among your new Year 5 and 6 students with these curated clips, discussion starters and collaborative learning tasks.

In MaveriX, six young motocross riders come together to form a team, to make the national titles – or crash out trying. Developed for upper primary teachers and students, this resource builds on the effective (and ineffective) teamwork and leadership displayed by the team as the basis for a learning sequence.

Mapped to English, Health and Physical Education and Personal and Social Capability content in Version 9.0 of the Australian Curriculum, this free resource is available to download from the ACTF website. Each lesson incorporates curriculum links, a relevant clip from the series, discussion starters to prompt classroom conversation, and learning tasks aimed at developing students’ teamwork and leadership knowledge and skills.

The complete MaveriX series - including the clips referred to in this resource - is available to download from the ACTF Shop. The series is also currently available to stream on ABC iview, and public school teachers in the Northern Territory can access the series through the Department of Education’s eLearn portal.
