Woven Threads to Join Powerhouse Museum Collection

Award-winning short documentary series Woven Threads: Stories from Afar is set to become part of the permanent contemporary history exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, screening at Kings Cinema.

Woven Threads: Stories from Afar is a powerful 8 x 4-minute animated documentary series that tells honest and emotional stories of refugees from all over the world. The series is written and directed by Michi Marrousszeky and produced by Paul Sullivan.

The Museum’s collection is curated to focus on compelling stories of Australian culture, history and lifestyle, with a strong emphasis on learning and creativity.

‘We are thrilled to know that our series Woven Threads: Stories from Afar will be part of the Contemporary History Exhibition in the Kings Cinema at the Powerhouse Museum. Every filmmaker dreams of having as many viewers as possible to see their work, and this takes that dream to a whole new level. Woven Threads: Stories from Afar has surpassed our expectations in multiple National and International Film Festivals, and awards ceremonies. Now with a permanent place in the Powerhouse Museum, we are delighted to say the least,’ says Marrousszeky and Sullivan.

School excursions to the Powerhouse Museum can be booked via the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences. For teachers looking to explore key themes from the Woven Threads series, a free, curriculum-mapped Teaching Toolkit is available to download from the ACTF.

Woven Threads’ exhibition officially opens on 24th February 2020 and will be available to view at Kings Cinema.
