Interstellar adventures to continue in Space Nova Season 2

Exciting news for young stargazers and budding astronauts – the award-winning animated series Space Nova will be coming back to screens with a second season.

Space Nova, from Sydney’s SLR Productions, will return thanks to the continued support of the Australian Children’s Television Foundation (ACTF) and Screen Australia, as well as ABC ME and Create NSW. It will be co-produced with Giggle Garage in Malaysia.

Season 2 finds the Nova family on the brink of their greatest mission ever when their ship is almost destroyed, throwing them off course and leaving their new friend Ziggy stranded in parts unknown. To find Ziggy and unravel a ‘universal imbalance’, the Novas will have to challenge everything they know about space: see the unseeable, know the unknowable, and find the unfindable.

Created for an audience of six to ten-year-olds, the new season of Space Nova will continue to ignite the imaginations of young explorers (as well as their parents).

ACTF Head of Content Bernadette O’Mahony said: “Space Nova is a clever and unique series that shows Australians at their best in the science and technology fields through an exhilarating CGI adventure. Taking children out of Earth and into an unexplored universe fuels their imagination and inspires them to think about what lies beyond our planet.”

SLR Productions’ CEO and Executive Producer, Suzanne Ryan said: “As the #1 Australian voiced animation show on ABC ME, I am thrilled to see more Space Nova on its way for kids and families and to work with the talented key creatives, cast and crew returning to make such an ‘out of this world’ and inspirational show.”

Space Nova is an SLR Production, co-produced by Giggle Garage for ABC Me. Financed by Screen Australia, ABC, the Australian Children’s Television Foundation and Create NSW. Distributed worldwide by ZDF Studios, excluding Australia and New Zealand, which are being handled by ACTF.
