Coming soon – a sneak peek at what’s on the way for the ACTF
A landmark book adaptation from an Oscar-winning team will soon be added to the ACTF catalogue, while a brand-new season of a beloved preschool animation is now available for presale.
A television adaptation of Shaun Tan’s bestselling illustrated anthology Tales from Outer Suburbia is currently in production, thanks to major production support from the Australian Children’s Television Foundation and Screen Australia in association with Australian broadcaster the ABC.
The 10 x 22-minute animated series is being produced by the Oscar-winning team behind The Lost Thing, Shaun Tan and producer Sophie Byrne (Highly Spirited), who have joined forces with Barbara Stephen and Alexia Gates-Foal from leading animation studio Flying Bark Productions.
Also in production, featuring new characters and a mountainous lake location, is a third series of Kangaroo Beach, the colourful preschool animated series about a group of young animal friends training as cadets with their lifeguard heroes. Through fun-filled games, sporting contests and on-the-job training, they’re gaining imperative water safety skills in every episode which are passed onto young viewers.
Since splashing onto screens in 2020, Kangaroo Beach has become a smash hit with viewers and their families around the world, broadcasting and streaming in multiple territories including the USA, Canada, the UK and Latin America.
