Program spotlight: Knee High Spies

Imagine a world where toys have secret lives: a world of magic and mischief, where a courageous teddy bear, an excitable dinosaur, a tech-savvy turtle and a loveable piece of goo come alive and embark on secret missions while their owners’ backs are turned.

That’s the premise of Knee High Spies – an ambitious action-comedy series greenlit for a second series following its popularity with Australian preschoolers.

Created by Tim Bain (Kangaroo Beach), produced by the award-winning Werner Film Productions (Dance Academy) and directed by Sesame Street’s Jack Jameson, Knee High Spies blends state-of-the-art puppets, animatronics, VFX and live-action performances to create a fun, exciting and warm-hearted series for young audiences.

The series features fast-paced action, epic missions, and puzzles that the audience helps to solve.

The first season of Knee High Spies is currently streaming on ABC iview in Australia and the BBC’s CBeebies in the United Kingdom. It recently took home the BANFF World Media Festival – Rockie Award for Children: Live Action and the SPA Award for Children’s Production of the Year.

Following its success, a second series is now in production in Melbourne, featuring brand-new adventures from teddy bear Jeremy Buttons and his gang as they work to protect their human family from the sneaky schemes of their pet guinea pig, Silver Paw.
