ACTF children’s content takes off worldwide
Programs from the ACTF’s extensive catalogue have been in high demand this year, with content acquired by broadcasters and streamers in Europe, North America, the United Kingdom and the Pacific Islands.
The live-action comedy series Caper Crew, produced by Easy Tiger for the ABC, is set to entertain audiences across the world, with the ACTF selling the global rights to the program to Netflix (excluding Australia).
Caper Crew is a stylish, fast-paced family adventure following siblings Amelia and Kai Delaney, whose lives are suddenly upended when their glamorous con-artist grandmother Queenie mysteriously appears on their doorstep and introduces them to the ‘Ten Con-mandments’, her personal playbook of mischief, mayhem and the art of the grift.
The live-action family feature film Whale Shark Jack has been acquired by Canal+ in France, RTE in Ireland, RTV Slovenia, Netherlands Public Broadcasting, and BYUtv in the United States.
The unique and ambitious preschool series Knee High Spies is now airing to audiences in the United Kingdom after being acquired by the BBC. Following the success of Series 1 in Australia, a second season is now in production.
Audiences in the UK and Ireland are also now able to watch the iconic Round the Twist, which has recently been acquired by streaming service ITVX. Meanwhile, LG Channels UK has licensed an extensive range of content for their VOD channel LG1 across the UK and Ireland, including preschool animations Eddie’s Lil’ Homies and Little J & Big Cuz, live-action comedy series Lockie Leonard (S1 and 2) and YA drama series More Than This.
Preschoolers in Canada, Portugal and Slovakia are being introduced to Australia’s favourite lifeguard cadets with broadcasters Tele-Quebec and TFO (Canada), Radio & Television Slovakia and Dreamia/Canal Panda (Portugal) acquiring multiple seasons of Kangaroo Beach. With three seasons and a summer special, this warm, colourful series has become a consistent favourite with international broadcasters.
The Inbestigators continues its global success, being acquired by France’s national public broadcaster, France Télévisions, earlier this year. Since premiering, The Inbestigators has become a standout success for the ABC and Netflix, winning a legion of loyal fans worldwide.
The new animated series Tales from Outer Suburbia, currently airing on the ABC in Australia and BYUtv in the USA, has recently been acquired by Fubon/Momo Kids in Taiwan, RTV Slovenia and Estonian Television, which has also licenced The Inbestigators.
PacificAus TV has acquired a range of content to air in the Pacific Islands, including Little Lunch, Eddie’s Lil’ Homies, Kangaroo Beach (S3) and all four seasons of Little J & Big Cuz.
And the award-winning comedy-horror series Crazy Fun Park is now available on Netflix after the SVOD acquired the series for Australian audiences.
