2019 AWGIE Children’s Nominees Announced

A series of talented Australian children’s television writers have been nominated for the 52nd annual AWGIE Awards.

Writers pinned for the “Children’s Television – ‘C’ Classification (Children’s – 5-14 Years), Original or Adapted, Animated or Performed” prize include Hardball’s Guy Edmonds and Matt Zeremes for “Episode 1: Across the Ditch”, Mustangs FC – Series 2’s Alix Beane for “Episode 6: Pity Party” and The Deep – Series 3’s Cleon Prineas for “Episode 8: Purple Tide”.

In the “Animation” category, Beat Bugs – Series 3 received two nominations: Kate Mulvany for “Episode 10: Lady Madonna” and Thomas Duncan-Watt for “Episode 14: You Won’t See Me”. Joining them is Berry Bees’ Joel Slack-Smith for “Hypnotic Hair, Don’t Care”, Monstrous’ Bruce Griffiths with Jasper St Aubyn West for “Pier Pressure” and Spongo, Fuzz and Jalapeña’s Simon Dodd for “The Gasman Cometh”.

The AWGIE Awards recognise excellence in writing for stage and screen. The awards are given by writers to writers, judged solely on the written script. Winners will be announced on Thursday August 22, 2019 at the City Recital Hall in Sydney.

The ACTF congratulates all the AWGIE nominees and wishes them the best of luck for the ceremony next month.
