Episode 1: ‘The Burn Off’ (PG)
Tomias looks back on his friendship with Dahlia over their last year of primary school to try to understand how and where things went wrong. When Dahlia convinces a reluctant Tomias to cut school on a perfect dry season day, they soon find themselves in the middle of a burn-off. Can Tomias summon up the cultural knowledge he needs to save them both?
Episode 2: ‘Gordon’s Boat’ (PG)
Tomias and Dahlia find themselves at odds when Gordon, the new town manager's son, uses his fancy 4K gaming system to play them off each other. But when an unplanned ride on Gordon’s dad’s boat finds them in hot water Tomias and Dahlia must put aside their differences and discover their friendship is stronger than ever.
Episode 3: ‘Big Barra Bonanza’ (PG)
It's "barra fever" in Mandjakkorl as people arrive for the ‘Big Barra Bonanza’, chasing a barramundi worth a million bucks. Tomias and Dahlia ditch tagalong Lizzie and sneak off to a quiet fishing spot, taking Dahlia's dad's favourite rods and lures without asking. Lizzie manages to track them down and demands a cut of any prizemoney, but all thoughts of bucks and barras go out the window when a hungry saltwater crocodile stalks Lizzie. With help from Caroleena, the kids manage to outsmart the salty - Tomias and Dahlia vowing never to abandon Lizzie again, finding out that there’s more important things than money.
Episode 4: ‘Actual Reality’ (PG)
When Aunty Ruby asks Tomias to tell her a story about her country, he finds himself embarrassingly tongue-tied. Encouraged by Dahlia, Tomias tries to make amends by filming Ruby's country on Gordon's new VR rig. There's only one catch: Gordon gets to direct. Tensions between the film's star (Tomias), director (Gordon) and general assistant (Dahlia) erupt over their different roles - not only in the film but in life itself! Finding themselves stuck out bush at night, the trio resolve their differences and raise help and for the first time start thinking seriously about their futures...
Episode 5: ‘The Festival’ (G)
When Dahlia learns that a BBQ lunch invite from the Armstrong's means that her and Tomias won’t be able to perform their dance at this years’ Mandjakkorl Cultural Festival she tries everything to get out of it. After a few failed attempts Dahlia manages to get away, but she has disappointed her family.
Meanwhile, Tomias struggles with the weight of his communities’ expectations on him becoming a song man. Nervous about his first public performance as a song man, Tomias ditches his Uncle’s practice and reunites with Dahlia, but it doesn't feel as satisfying as they'd imagined, so they both set out to make things right.
Episode 6: ‘Cracker Night’ (PG)
Tomias and Dahlia's dangerous fireworks mishap humiliates Mr Armstrong in front of the town, so he bans the community's Cracker Night. Now the pair are on the outer with the locals, who think they’re bad for each other.
Determined to see cracker night happen, Dahlia and Tomias try to make things right with Mr. Armstrong. To do that they need Nana Caroleena’s help but first they have to do something for her. Can they redeem themselves, get Cracker Night back on and prove the locals wrong?
Episode 7: ‘Speech Comp’ (G)
A school speech competition on Mandjakkorl history creates some tension between Dahlia and Tomias. He could do an old mob story, but he wants something new, whilst Dahlia feels like she has nothing interesting to talk about. After both doing some research, they discover they’re telling the same story, about the lost treasure of Mandjakkorl. With Nana Caroleena’s help they set off on a treasure hunt. On their journey they discover Dahlia's connection to Mandjakkorl but also encounter grave danger.
Episode 8: ‘Transitions’ (G)
With Tomias's impending school interview clouding his ability to focus on his ceremonial duties, Japulala tasks him with picking up cousin Reuben from the bus station. But Reuben isn't the happy kid who left for boarding school a few months earlier. Within minutes of arriving back in town, Reuben flees, leaving an anxious Tomias, who takes all his frustrations out on Dahlia. While Tomias is out searching for Reuben alone, Dahlia tries to find purpose for herself. Meanwhile, Mr. Armstrong has decided to take Gordon out driving for his own kind of initiation but can't seem to give up the wheel.
Episode 9: ‘Free Range’ (G)
A week after his boarding school interview, Tomias receives an offer for a place in Melbourne. He’s not the only one who has news, with Dahlia being accepted into Darwin Technical College. As they go to collect eggs from the chook pen, Tomias can’t bring himself to tell Dahlia, for fear of ruining their friendship, so he decides to keep it from her. But now they have a more immediate problem, the town chickens have been caged up by Armstrong and they have to buy the eggs! The surprises keep on coming with news they’re meant to be at Gordon’s birthday party, right now! Gordon isn’t keen on the party though, embarrassed that he is turning 13, having stayed down a year in school. To make him feel better Tomias suggests he and Dahlia give Gordon the full Mandjakkorl experience, a free-range, bush adventure. Meanwhile, Lizzie and JoJo scope out the new caged chicken coop whilst Nana Caroleena rallies the towns folk to confront Armstrong and reclaim their chickens. An encounter that doesn’t end up how Armstrong planned.
Episode 10: ‘Barrumbi’ (G)
Tomias and Dahlia find their friendship strained when Tomias returns from Melbourne after visiting this new boarding school. Can a trip to a place long forgotten, heal their friendship and Country?
