Penguins – Bruny Island, Tasmania
Starting from the highest peak on Australia’s most southern point, Brandon and Kayne jump on their mountain bikes and blast their way down Mt Wellington, outside of Hobart, as they start their search for the elusive Fairy Penguin. Abseiling, sea kayaking and a spot of surfing later, the boys come face-to-face with the mysterious, but very cute Fairy Penguin, while also meeting a rather unusual Albino Wallaby along the way.

It’s the beginning of pre season for brand new all-girl soccer team, the Mustangs, and striker Marnie can’t wait to get started with her BFF, Liv. But the new team’s got problems. They have no uniforms, no dedicated change rooms, can barely field a team and their coach - Marnie’s mum, Jen - is clueless about the beautiful game. Things aren’t great at home for Marns either. Jen has got herself a new boyfriend - Kev - and Marnie is feeling the pain of sharing her space.

Written by Craig Silvey and illustrated by Sara Acton, the novel Runt was published in 2022 and was named the 2023 Book of the Year for Younger Readers by the Children’s Book Council of Australia. Australian schools will soon have the chance to enjoy this story on screen.

It has been an eventful month for the Australian Children’s Television Foundation (ACTF) with the announcement of additional funding, a meeting with the federal Minister for the Arts, and a new Board member appointed by the Federal Government.
