ACTF Sleeping Rough for Youth Homelessness

ACTF staff are participating in Melbourne City Mission’s Sleep at the ‘G event this May to support the 6,000 young Victorians experiencing homelessness each night.

At the #SleepAtTheG event, participants stay overnight at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) with little more than a cardboard box, soup and bread rolls to understand and empathise with the lived experience of homeless youth.

Fundraising from the event is collected by the Melbourne City Mission to upgrade and develop youth crisis centres across the state. These centres provide emergency accommodation, health, education and employment facilities to care for those in need.

ACTF CEO and Sleep at the G Team Leader, Jenny Buckland says

“The ACTF staff love our Fitzroy neighbourhood and feel privileged to work in the vibrant inner city. But something we can’t fail to notice is that youth homelessness is a significant issue. We’re invested in supporting the wellbeing and safety of Australia’s young people, and when we heard about the fantastic work that Melbourne Central Mission is doing to build a world-first fully integrated response 24/7 centre that provides emergency accommodation, health, education and employment support all under the same roof in the nearby CBD, we wanted to help them out. We’re reaching out to all our friends, family, industry colleagues and supporters and asking if you can help us reach our goal and make a difference.”

Staff at the ACTF have set a fundraising target of $10,000 to contribute towards the MCM’s overall goal of $1.2 million this year.

Every donation is valuable, no matter the size. All donations $2 and above are tax deductible. Donate to the ACTF team below.
