2018 My Place Competition: Final Call for Entries!

With our short story competition closing this Friday 31 August, it’s time to upload any remaining student entries.

We have now received hundreds of entries to the 2018 My Place Competition, making it the most popular student competition in ACTF history. The wonderfully creative stories from Years 3-6 students have been submitted from all over Australia.

When the competition draws to a close this week, ACTF Head of Production Bernadette O’Mahony – who worked as an Executive Producer on both series of My Place – will have the difficult task of judging the short-listed stories in each category. Bernadette will be looking for engaging narratives which tell the story of a fictional current day My Place character, including:

  • The character’s name, background and their family life
  • Clothing and toys the character would have
  • Reference to the fig tree that appears throughout the series.

All students who enter the competition will receive a certificate of participation and a My Place poster. Three lucky students from each category, along with their teachers, will also win ACTF Shop vouchers:

Years 3 and 4

  • 1st prize: $100 ACTF Shop vouchers for both the winning student, and their teacher
  • 2nd prize: $50 ACTF Shop vouchers for both the winning student, and their teacher
  • 3rd prize: $25 ACTF Shop vouchers for both the winning student, and their teacher

Years 5 and 6

  • 1st prize: $100 ACTF Shop vouchers for both the winning student, and their teacher
  • 2nd prize: $50 ACTF Shop vouchers for both the winning student, and their teacher
  • 3rd prize: $25 ACTF Shop vouchers for both the winning student, and their teacher

Entries close on 31 August 2018, and we can’t wait to read your students’ creative work!
