Adelaide School Visits

This week the Education team has been visiting Adelaide teachers and students who are using ACTF content and resources in the classroom.

Adelaide’s Rose Park Primary School, Blackwood Primary School and Norwood Primary School have all participated in recent ACTF virtual learning events, including our Dance Academy webinar and comedy scriptwriting workshops. Teachers and students from the three schools were happy to share other ways that they are using ACTF materials in the classroom.

After reading the Little Lunch books with his senior students, Rose Park teacher Karson Hutchinson compared the written texts to episodes from the Little Lunch TV series, examined the scripts, and created short films using the Little Lunch App. Karsan says this term-long unit provided rich literacy experiences for his students.

At Blackwood Primary School, we were fortunate to speak to two classes of Year 6 and 7 students about their current inquiry into how the media shapes values, attitudes and behaviours. Students had drafted a range of thoughtful questions ahead of our visit, including questions about stereotypes, the representation of minority groups, and the regulations related to television production. Following our student session, we met with Blackwood teachers who were eager to learn about upcoming ACTF content and resources.

Our final school visit was with a group of teachers from Norwood Primary School. Norwood teachers have previously used the Little Lunch App for digital storytelling, and were eager to discuss how the MY:24 App could be used to document school events.

Thank you again to the teachers and students who hosted us during these visits! It was wonderful to hear your feedback, to suggest useful resources, and to further develop our relationship with your schools.
