Episode 6: ‘This is Halloween’

On Halloween, the Fun Kids discover that for one night the dead can walk the earth with unexpected consequences — particularly for lovelorn, Destinee.

Task 1: Year 7 English

The Fun Kids discover that for one night the dead can leave the park to walk among the living. In pairs, debate the pros and cons of this for the Fun Kids. Bring a third person in to listen, evaluate the debate and choose the most convincing side.

Task 3: Years 7 and 8 Media Arts

The cemetery is decked out for a Halloween party. Siobhan, Violetta and Destinee are surprised to find Bridget — a non-binary person obsessed with researching morbid accidents in Asphodel Heights — sitting on Destinee’s grave. A conversation follows.

Identify the camera angles, camera movements and shot sizes used in this scene then explain how they provide insight into the characters and the situation.

Task 4: Years 7 and 8 Media Arts

Remus visits the home of Edmund Henley, builder of the Crazy Fun Park, and sets it on fire. Watch the scene up to where Remus discovers the petrol can, then storyboard a new ending to the scene. Include an image, dialogue, and sound (music and SFX).
